Dea Matrona comprises two school friends, Mollie McGinn and Orlaith Forsythe, who grew up busking to their favourite rock ‘n’ roll anthems on the streets of Belfast. Covering the likes of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’ and Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘Homeward Bound’, they have reached an online community of 250,000 followers and racked up over eight million views on YouTube.

With their hard hitting riffs and musical intensity they have established a sound loaded with melody and style. 2022 saw successful shows across UK and Europe, including supporting Eagles of Death Metal on their European tour followed by The Academic and Feeder.

They also performed at a multitude of Summer festivals, including Electric Picnic, Rock Werchter, Rock In The City and Retro C Trop, ending with a triumphant show at Trans Musicales Festival, France – not to mention their Live@Aloft set in The Liberties, with Hot Press and Aloft Hotel.

2023 has started with a bang, playing at Eurosonic Festival and a performance at the European Live Festival Awards. The band will also be heading out to Texas to play SXSW Festival at the British Music Embassy, as well as the Belfast City Output Showcase, the Official SXSW showcase and the End of the Trail showcase.
