If its big choruses, a wall of sound and lyrics with some depth you’re after you`ve come to the right place. As a band Jester write catchy rock songs with huge choruses that will stay in your head for days on end along with darker thought provoking cinematic moments that transport the listener to another world at times.

The general theme of the lyrics by singer Colly hint at darkness in places with a chance of redemption, the happy side of sad. There’s always a light somewhere and it’s never going out. In a music world dominated by throwaway bubble-gum pop and singer songwriters moaning about being dumped by their girlfriend Jester offer a place of solace for the old school dreamer that rock n roll does still indeed exist and is very much alive. There`s still a place in the music world for guitar music written by five friends in a shed that’s not in any way manufactured.

Jester are the flag carriers for those still in love with the notion that music comes from the soul and there`s nobody around that puts on a better live rock and roll show than these boys with the wall of sound the band create cashing the cheques being written by their outspoken frontman.

Jester are Colly Dempsey, Mark O’ Dwyer, Tomas Maher, Niall O’ Shaughnessy and David Fitzpatrick. Hailing from the town of Thurles. Co. Tipperary, they were inspired to form a band by bearing witness to some of the biggest bands in the world that descended on their small town every summer for the iconic Féile concerts of the 90’s.

They first entered onto the music scene in ’07 when debut single “Maria” charted in the IMRA top 40 Irish Chart. Single no.2, “Scream”, also saw them climb the charts yet again, reaching number 18 in the IRMA Irish Singles chart at a time when the charts actually meant something.

A high point of 2009 for Jester was storming to victory at the prestigious Sea Sessions Irish Unsigned Act Competition in June. The prize ranged from working with the best producers and promoters within the music industry, to recording time in Grouse Lodge.
