Hi my name is Cormac Battle and I’m in an Irish band called Kerbdog. I’m just going to give you the bare facts. Nobody has time for waffle anymore.
Me and my friends Darragh, Colin and Billy made a little demo in 1992 and to our total surprise ended up getting a huge major label record deal within about a week. (Yes, we sold out to the man instantly!!)
We had won the lottery as far as we were concerned and embarked on a journey that included the following:
•Making a debut album with Nirvana producer Jack Endino and then a second with Garth Richardson who did the Rage Against the Machine record. I know right……
•The second album “On The Turn” was expected to sell millions and set us up for stadium status and Kardashian style living, but things often don’t turn out the way they’re meant to. It was probably for the best. Although we would have given it a try!!
•We toured with/supported amongst others: Helmet, Therapy, Foos, Ministry and shit loads of festivals etc.
•Britpop blew up and stopped us taking over the world. That was properly shit.
•It was a case of right band, right songs but WRONG TIME.
•Somewhat traumatised by the whole experience, we took a hiatus, but discovered that our music continued to live on, gain momentum and was reaching new ears all the time. As a result, we’ve been playing some shows for hardcore fans from back in the day and the growing number of people who have found us since. We absolutely love it!
•It’s all bullshit free now. We don’t care about selling albums or impressing anyone, EXCEPT people who come and see us live. For reasons that remain obscure, our live shows now completely blow our old selves out of the water.
•There’s a lot more to this story of course, and you can find it in the usual places. But for now, as they say. See you at the front!
