Overview

The “Night & Day Festival Song Competition” in association with Lensmen Photography and Video Production, aims to support up and coming artists by providing the resources needed to increase their exposure and to get their music heard. The winners will be provided with a choice of three studios at which to spend a day recording. The studios are as follows; Hellfire Studios, Soundcaster Studios , and Paddy Jordan Recording. Lensmen Photography and Video Production, will provide two days filming and two days of editing to produce a music video. The winner will also be given the opportunity to play a set at Night and Day on Sunday June 25th.

Prizes

WINNER

– First choice of three recording studios for a day’s recording.

– One day filming and two days editing of a music video by Lensmen Photography and Video Production. Any additional costs for filming outside of Dublin or for props will be borne by the artist.

– Play at the Night and Day Festival 2024

SECOND PLACE

– Second choice of recording studio for a day’s recording.

– Weekend Passes to the Night and Day Festival 2024.

THIRD PLACE

– Third choice of recording studio for a day’s recording.

– Weekend Passes to the Night and Day Festival 2024.

Judging

Entries will be screened by a listening committee who will select a shortlist to be sent to the judges. The judging panel consists of established people in the music industry.

Production value will not be considered when selecting finalists.

How to Enter

By email only. Send your song to [email protected] 

Preferred format is: WAV (. wav), AIFF (. aiff) or FLAC (. flac) files. As these files are too big for email, sending a google drive link is recommended.

You may also send a link to your song on bandcamp/soundcloud etc. However, please ensure that the download option is enabled so we can download the song. 

Entries accepted from February 1st to April 30th 2024 only.

Eligibility

For the purposes of the competition, a song must have both lyrics and music. All submitted songs must be original, unpublished (or self-published) songs that have been written or co-written by the entrant(s). For competition purposes, an unpublished song is defined as being recorded and self-released by the entrant(s) and/or not co-published by a commercially active music publisher.

Submission policy and Conditions

  • Each entry must be an original, unpublished musical composition for which the contestant retains the copyright and authority to submit and perform the composition in the contest.
  • One entry per artist/band.
  • The song MUST be performed by the song contest entrant.
  • Entrants must be available to perform at the festival on June 28th 2024.
  • Entrant agrees to accept the final decision of the judges.
  • Entrants give permission for their email address to be shared with Lensmen Photography and Video Production only.

The writer retains all rights to submitted songs.
